Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer

 

Job Description

General Summary:

Initiates and champions to completion varied manufacturing projects inclusive of scope, design requirements, cost analysis / budget requirements, oversee build/installs/tool and machinery commissioning for the ongoing improvement to productivity, cost, quality and safety while assisting maintenance with troubleshooting breakdowns

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible and accountable for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of tracking systems required to support manufacturing processes and projects to improve productivity, cost, quality and safety
  • Maintains project documentation and track / report status
  • Assists production and quality to achieve productivity and quality goals
  • Supervises, development and monitoring work of Engineering Intern Student
  • Completes work assignments in a timely, accurate, and safe manner in accordance with the standards required through the company, trade, or applicable Regulations / Legislation
  • Promotes the company’s operational visions, values, and goals
  • Conducts all work activities in a manner that is supportive of team effort
  • Actively participates in training or other team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports directly to the Maintenance Manager

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing environment managing projects
  • Requires knowledge and ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes and related equipment
  • Knowledge of stamping presses, CNC lathes, turning process, tooling and related machinery is an asset
  • Able to read / interpret blue prints, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
  • Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD, SAP and Quality software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience in automotive and/ or manufacturing environment
  • Effective interpersonal / communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements:

  • Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending and stooping
  • Usage of a computer and other office machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and printer
  • Excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Environmental Requirements and Conditions:

  • Possess working knowledge of ISO/ TS16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with continuous exposure to noise.
