General Description

The HR Generalist is responsible for providing excellent customer service to the employee base as well as handling employee concerns in a timely manner. The position serves as a key support to the Human Resources Manager and the Human Resources department.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain disciplinary documentation for all hourly personnel
  • Maintain personnel records, disciplinary documentation, and attendance for hourly personnel in compliance with regulatory and contractual guidelines
  • Tracking and monitoring time and attendance for all hourly employees
  • Assist employees with questions regarding medical, dental, optical, pre-paid legal and 401(k) benefits
  • Administers hourly employee benefit plans including but not limited to administrative letters, claims, records for life, health, dental, vision, sickness, accident, pension, vacation requests, holiday, COBRA and HIPAA
  • Organization and administration of Short Term, Long Term Benefits for hourly personnel
  • Responsible for coordinating Company education and training programs
  • Coordination and administration of training funds, if applicable
  • Supports employee recruitment to include interviewing, and conducting background checks for prospective employees
  • Update communication boards as applicable
  • Coordination of employee behavior recognition awards and social events
  • Maintain and keep accurate records, notes, and minutes for all grievances through the arbitration level
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining the location apprenticeship program
  • Inputs, maintains and updates HRIS/Payroll and employee benefit systems as needed
  • Maintains all records, claims, coordination and first aid medical for Workers’ Compensation Law. Completes OSHA log and other required federal forms
  • Maintains bulletin boards. Maintains, coordinates, and administers all vending services
  • Performs other duties as required

  • Completes work assignments with accuracy, sense of urgency, and in a safe manner in accordance with established standards, and all applicable Regulations / Legislation

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Completion of high school plus post-secondary certificate program in Human Resources or business-related field
  • 1-2 year related experience in Human Resources, manufacturing setting preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in UltiPro & Kronos software
  • Achieves results / targets through others who are not direct reports
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal / communication skills required
  • Demonstrates planning and time management skills
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

Working Conditions

  • Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping, and performing repetitive motion tasks
  • Excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds short distances occasionally
  • Flex shift hours may be required to support role responsibilities over 3 shift operation
  • Office, manufacturing, outdoor environment
  • Wears personal protective equipment as prescribed
