POSITION PURPOSE

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading BAC North America manufacturing operations. This position will have an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing systems and lead the consolidation and alignment of operations for the region. Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible to define, communicate and collaborate execution of a broad array of manufacturing subjects affecting plant operations and programs.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Lead and drive significant industrial/manufacturing engineering projects that apply to BAC North America plants in the areas of products, processes, equipment, tooling, material handling and facilities.

  • Provide leadership to North American operations team of engineers to guide not only processes and capabilities of the business but also foster and influence best practices in the region.

  • Design and execute profilt improvement projects and facilitate plan initiatives at or below cost annually inclusive of materials, labor, overhead, design and equipment.

  • Communicate manufacturing information among plants in an effort to share knowledge and benefits company-wide.

  • Partner with Plant Managers on capital budgets, equipment selection and plant layout

  • Act as manufacturing consultant to leadership and communication with other regional BAC manufacturing locations.

  • Participate in global sharing of new technology/equipment and collaborate on selected projects that may have global impact

  • Develop and mentor team of employees through leadership development and effective goal setting and achievement.

  • NATURE AND SCOPE

  • The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will report to the Director, North America Operations and will lead a team of North American manufacturing engineers. As part of the Operations Team, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will have significant interaction with cross functional teams at all levels of the business. This position will lead a team of engineers.

  • KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience in high volume, high variability manufacturing with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles

  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and production systems

  • In-depth knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, steel tube fabrication/bending, welding, coatings, thermoforming, and automation

  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of innovation and support of continuous improvement initiatives.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk up to 50% of the time. Working conditions include those of a normal construction environment, as well as standard hazards associated with installed HVAC equipment and rotating equipment. This position requires occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs, and domestic travel of 30% of the time.
