JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Diamond Chain Company, the world’s leading manufacturer of high performance roller chain products serving the oil and gas, industrial distribution and MRO, agriculture, original equipment, and attachment chain markets, is seeking a self-driven Machinist Repairman to troubleshoot and repair all types of production machinery to reduce downtime while maintaining a high safety standard.

 

POSITION PURPOSE

 

The Machinist Repairman is responsible for being able to troubleshoot all of our machines and fabricate any necessary parts to get the machine back into operation. The successful candidate must be self motivated and capable of operating machine shop equipment.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Understand the functions of machining, heat treat and/or assembly
  • Be able to fabricate close tolerance parts in a timely manner using many different types of machines without direct supervision
  • Provide an immediate response to breakdowns in production to keep downtime to the lowest level possible
  • Work well with machine operators and production supervisors to get repairs done as quickly as possible
  • Read and understand machine manuals, schematics and part diagrams
  • Coordinate parts and materials that need ordered to get repair to machines completed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Minimum 8 years experience in Machine Repair field
  • Experienced in machining close tolerance parts to a blueprint or reverse engineering
  • Ability to operate different types of lathes to make shafts, bearings and cut threads
  • Mig, Tig and arc welding also plasma and torch cutting experience is preferred
  • Experience with computerized Maintenance Tracking and work order systems (ie CMMS)
  • Ability to operate horizontal and vertical mills (Bridgeport preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple breakdowns with the help of production supervision
  • Work well with a team of skilled tradesman, supervisors and engineers
  • Ability to estimate the amount of time to complete any task at hand
  • Be able to look at production processes for areas of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulics and pneumatics
  • 2 open positions – 1 on 2nd (3p – 11:30 p) and 1 on 3rd (11p – 7:30a)
