Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or a related field plus two (2) years of health education experience required, or a Master’s Degree in Public Health or a related field plus one (1) year of health education experience required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Certification as a Lactation Consultant or a Diabetes Educator preferred. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be an effective communicator with diverse groups of people (i.e. people with disabilities, families, professionals, community leaders, government officials and others). Knowledge of Word, Access, and Excel computer programs is required. Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements on a year for year basis.
Responsibilities: The primary purpose of the Health Educator II position is to assist with the planning, organizing, and implementation of health education programs in the Department. Identifies and promotes individual and public awareness of health needs and sound practices. Coordinates projects for Maternal & Child health initiatives including project research and development, and annual reports.
