Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in science or other related filed required. Must be licensed as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of New Jersey. A Master’s Degree in Business, Administration or related field preferred. Three (3) years of experience as a registered Respiratory Therapist, including one (1) year in a leadership or supervisory capacity required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must.
The primary purpose of the Assistant Director Respiratory Therapy position is to support the Director in the operationalization of changes in the delivery system for Respiratory Services throughout Patient Care Services. The Assistant Director fosters a patient/family centered care department that is clinically safe, effective, financially productive and responsive to the organization and the clients it serves. The Assistant Director sustains the daily operational functioning of the department in conjunction with the Director. She/he collaborates with the Dept. of Education and Prof Development and assists in education, presentation, orientation, and other hospital wide education and training. The Assistant Director Respiratory Therapy is a positive role model, a skilled communicator/facilitator and a team player with solid people skills that introduces, implements and sustains work processes designed to produce successful patient/family outcomes. She/he is skilled at interfacing with broad and diverse groups in multidisciplinary factions to improve care delivery. The Assistant Director Respiratory Therapy has knowledge of the Joint Commission Standards, National Patient Safety Goals, Patient Bill of Rights, Department of Health Standards, and Professional Standards applicable to the field of respiratory care.
