Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Business, Public Administration or a related field required, plus five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in administration and credentialing required or equivalent -OR- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration or a related field required, plus seven (7) years of progressively more responsible experience in administration and credentialing required or equivalent, including credentialing experience in a teaching hospital setting preferred. NAMSS Membership. CPMSP and CPCS certifications preferred. Certification for CPMSP and CPCS is required within five (5) years of date of hire. Candidate must be proficient in credentialing software systems. Provides University Hospital with the support of qualified medical staff services professionals, who have been trained to support the multiple functions specific to the Office of Medical Staff Affairs (MSO) and Education. Establishes the Office of Medical Staff Affairs and Education as an in-house resource, liaison, and partner to both internal and external customers. Develops and enhances processes to better facilitate communication, workload and outcomes. Where feasible, develops continuity in services provided, as well as consistency in documents, policies and procedures whenever possible to reduce redundancy in related processes.
Responsibilities: The primary purpose of the Director Medical Staff Affairs and Education position is to provide leadership for the overall operations of the Medial Staff Affairs and Education Office. This includes, but is not limited to, the credentialing and privileging process; interaction with the Graduate Medical Education Office and the Admissions Office of Rutgers University; and interaction with other external residency and student programs as they relate to University Hospital.
This position exercises considerable independence and discretion on matters as they pertain to University Hospital and the Medical Staff Affairs and Education Office. This position will collaborate and coordinate with legal counsel and internal audit regarding the review of contracts and agreements with both internal and external customers.
